The last of my 4th of July park visits, Samuel P Taylor State Park is in the coastal hills in Marin County. It was crowded the day I visited, and I'm sure that if you want to camp you would need to make reservations way ahead. There are also cabins that can be rented.
Much as I love the ocean, this is my favorite terrain, creeks, ferns, trees .... lots of green. I couldn't resist a bit of a hike.
