Quilt Shops: Redding CA

A trip to Portland offered the perfect opportunity to visit parks and quilt stores along the way.  I stopped at a lot of quilt stores and definitely added too much to my stash!!!!

First on the list were a couple in the Redding Area.  Blue Iris in Palo Cedro was pleasant and had a nice collection, I somehow lost the picture I had of the Blue Irish Quilt that had been made for the shop.

The Sewing Room in Redding was one of those where you can spend the day!!  It is run like a collective, with various sections of special wares.  I couldn't resist a ruler holder, hand made by an 85 year old man who was selling them for a fraction of what they could have brought in the SF Bay area.  Then there was the section of hand dyed material.....being sold at again a fraction of their worth, as the dyer was closing out her wares.

Although I walked away with a pile, my purse was not empty!!!

CSP - Sonoma Coast

One of three state parks I visited on my way home from 4th of July at the Sea Ranch, Sonoma Coast State Park stretches from Bodega Head to 4 miles north of Jenner.

There are several beautiful beaches and a couple of campgrounds.  I didn't have much time for hiking but couldn't resist strolling about here and there as I stopped at the various beaches.

Definitely worth a stop on any trip up the coast, and for those inclined to camp between beaches and trails there is plenty to do!

Bags

Made from velvet and ties.  These purses zip on the side to secretly stash money and keys and have an opening on the top for a phone!

Pockets for crayons, sewing and more I made one for everyone

Touches of Wool

Every now and again I tackle an applique project using wool.  I like the sewing, but am never sure if I like the finished product.

NP - Mount Rainier

Rainier National Park, established as the 5th National Park in 1899 was the first to be formed from an existing National Forest.

After years of driving by as I drove between Gig Harbor and Roy and later from home to Roy I finally drove through the park in October of 2018.  It is nice to have that Senior Pass so you don't have to pay!!!
Christine Falls

It was a foggy soft day, but even so it was beautiful.  One day I'll go back when the weather is right for hiking!
