Mission - San Francisco Solano (1823)

 CALIFORNIA REGISTRER HISTORICAL LANDMARK #3

The furthest north of the Spanish Missions, San Francisco Solano was built in 1823

The mission museum has some wonderful artifacts, that have been gathered to replace what originally would have been there.

The chapel was decked out for Christmas when I visited.

When the catholic church sold the mission they moved everything to the new church.  The new church burned down twice, leaving nothing in the way of original furnishings to return to the mission.  The stations of the cross currently in the chapel were purchased in Rome in a second hand shop.
