When Jess was transferred to Portland, I decided to make quilts for Madi and Cari so they would think of Grammy and Grandpa every so often. Without telling them I was planning quilts I got their color choice, blue and purple for Madi and pink and purple for Cari.
They were done before the move complete with Grammy kisses and Grandpa hugs.
Maura and I had found a pattern for kids quilts with their names and a variation of blocks. I adapted and made bigger and more colorful. I also used the scraps from the quilts to create the backs.
Both the block idea and the pieced backs have found their way into most of my quilts since.
