SMR - Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

Another beautiful November day on the California coast.  It is astounding how one can go down the coast from one beautiful beach to another.

CSHP - Fort Humboldt

Fort Humboldt was established in 1853 to help resolve problems with the local indigenous people.  Exhibits include information on the tribes, the settlers, the forest and more.  It was worth visiting if only to see the old machinery and tools scattered around the grounds

NMP - Vicksburg

Greg and I had planned to visit Vicksburg after Gettysburg, since another great-grandfather had served there, but we never quite made it.  So in 2020 I planned a riverboat trip down the Mississippi with Maura and William that included a stop in Vicksburg. Those plans were cancelled twice due to Covid, before we finally took the trip in December 2021.

Unfortunately inclement weather limited our ability to wander through the park so I couldn't find the actual spots where Aaron Trindle might have actually been. But I was able to share his letters with our tour guide, who in turn was going to share with the park staff.
